Queer Families

29.7.26 - 2.8.26

5 day Gathering for lgbtq+* families under the rainbow

Led by Jessica Gedamu, Sula Owosekun and Alice Gedamu, this is your invitation to gather with LGBTQ+ parents and their children and experience belonging, rest, and joyful connection in community. This 5-day retreat is designed by and for queer families - including single parents, multi-parent constellations, and gay, lesbian, bi, queer, and trans households.

Let’s take this time to immerse ourselves in community, nature and fun activities for queer families. You will enjoy delicious fresh meals, meet other families under the rainbow, and reclaim space to breathe, celebrate, and build community on your terms. For more info and registration, please book a discovery call.

The days unfold in the wild beauty of Terra Rosa: slow mornings exploring nature and the environment and community around us; afternoons sharing playful activities and adventures with our kids. Evenings bring simple rituals - shared meals, stargazing, stories, and gentle connection.

Everyone is welcome to contribute in their own way, whether through creative play, music, movement, or simply offering presence. Five days held in community, spacious yet energizing, where participation moves at your own pace and every family feels held.

Community
This week offers your family to be in a space made by and for queer families and to spend time together. It enables our children to connect with other queer families and hopefully build life lasting bonds.

Real Tools for Real Life
We will engage in practical, playful, and interactive activities designed for queer families — from creative workshops and nature adventures to collaborative projects and family-led offerings. You’ll explore skills we actually use in family life and community.

Deep Dives
We’ll reflect together on the joys and challenges of raising kids in non-traditional families, exploring belonging, trust, and connection.

Community Language is English and parents translate for their children.

The facilitators

Alice, Jessica and Sula bring together lived queer family experience, professional expertise, and a deep commitment to care and transformation.

Growing up in diverse family constellations, all three are shaped by queer histories, migration experiences, and non-linear life paths. Their work moves at the intersection of personal stories and social structures, with a shared focus on creating more just, supportive, and imaginative spaces for families.

Alice grew up in a queer family rooted in the gay communities of the 1980s and 1990s. As part of the Mother Tongue ensemble by Lola Arias, she brought the legal struggles of queer parenting to the stage. She works as a coach and is currently training to become a therapist, with a strong focus on family reflection, values, vision, and storytelling.

Jessica grew up in an Ethiopian-German household in Germany and has consciously forged her own path beyond conventional routes. She is a business leader and an advocate for LGBTQ rights and diversity, working to build more equitable structures in professional and social contexts.

Sula grew up in a German foster family in Berlin and is a queer parent living in patchwork and co-parenting constellations. A passionate potter, she is deeply connected to creative processes, working with care, hands-on practices, and embodied ways of knowing. With experience of the German school system both as a teacher and as a parent, she is committed to making educational spaces more supportive - especially for marginalized children and their families.

Together, Alice, Jessica and Sula create a welcoming, reflective, and nurturing space for queer families to connect, share stories, and imagine new ways of being together.
